Welcome to the Best Practices Development Wiki
This wiki is part of the Etheric Studies Initiative sponsored by the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP).

Etheric indicates all those facets of reality which, on the human level, give rise to psychic functioning, and which shade into dimensions in which it is presumed the personality survives after physical death. The Etheric Studies initiative is an attempt to bring scientific methodology to the study of the Etheric, especially survival of consciousness.

To explore the Etheric in a scientifically rigorous way we must start with as few assumptions as possible, and we must make sure that we know what these assumptions are. We must develop the necessary methods and protocols to test these initial assumptions. We also need to find ways to separate reliable data from the mass of our experimental results. Both evidence related to the Etheric dimension's existence and evidence concerning how and why we interact with it are valuable contributions to our understanding.

At this Best Practices wiki we are attempting to collaborate with those who experiment with and have knowledge of the Etheric, in order to develop scientific methods and What are Best Practics?< to guide our studies. Initially, our primary exploratory tool will be Instrumental TransCommunication.

The Best Practices Wiki allows subject matter specialists in areas related to Etheric Studies to contribute directly to the development and maintenance of methods, techniques and policies that represent the state of the art for our field.

If you have suggestions or comments, please let us know by editing our Suggestions page. If you wish to contribute a Best Practice, or simply to improve the pages which are already here, see "Getting Started" below.
Experience welcome
Unlike Wikipedia, Etheric Studies requires that you have some understanding of the subject if you want to make contributions. A consensus amongst editors is important for such considerations as wording and article content, but content of articles should be based on verifiable research, documented experience and/or sound reasoning.
Etheric Studies: a field in its infancy
Initially, we must work from hypothesies which have not been fully verified by reliable data. The objective of Best Practices is to identify what needs to be done to provide verification. For instance, has the evidence for the paranormality of orbs been establish? If not, what might be done to provide the necessary data? That information should be noted and reported to the AA-EVP via the contact email at Here.

Getting Started

Becoming an Editor
Anyone may register as an editor so long as they use their name and provide a brief biography saying why they are qualified to edit the subjects they contribute to. We are not looking for academic credentials as much as experience and understanding. If you are interested in helping out, simply use the message tool at Etheric Studies and tell us who you are. You can fill in your biographical information after we have added your name.
How To Create a Best Practice Guideline
If you wish to contribute a Best Practice, you can start by looking at the Article Guidelines. Then copy the code from the Best Practices Template into a new page, and you are ready to contribute! A list of Best Practice articles can be found at here or a list of Categories can be found here. Also see the Best Practices discussion board for a comprehensive list. If you have a question, you can ask it here.
Editing
Most of the pages on the Best Practices Wiki (full list) can be edited by any registered user (see Becoming an Editor above). Exceptions include the Main Page, and templates, but suggestions for changes are welcome on our Suggestions page. We are eager for your input and expertise!

Oversight
